"The world doesn't owe you anything."
I was standing near the photocopier and overheard this statement.
In the days that followed, I noticed my own complaint about the lunches served at the cafeteria, I noticed my resistance to laryngitis, and the complaints around me. I realized I certainly have the sense that the world owes me something. I have tried to be a good mom, good employee, good climber and I thought that entitled me to a good life.  But it actually doesn't.

I have an amazing friend who lives this truth. We were meeting up and climbing in Colorado this spring, but en route to Colorado, she badly sprained her ankle. This did not stop her. We still went climbing, we merely shifted where we went and the type of climbing we did.

Take a look at where you may feel you deserve something... it could be good weather on a weekend, less traffic during your commute, or success on your next route. Take a moment to consider the following:
- How fortunate you are to be alive today - not everyone who was alive yesterday is alive today.
- How fortunate you are that you can read this blog post.
- How amazing it is that you were born in a world with running water, electricity and comfortable shelter.

Fulfillment in our life, doesn't come from having stuff, it comes from giving.
